Plato's investments in hospitality started with Tune Plato Real Estate (TPRE), a joint venture with Tune Hotels in 2009 to invest in and develop limited service hotels in the UK, Australia and Malaysia. TPRE has since deployed RM 300m in capital on a portfolio of >1,000 rooms in London, Melbourne, Edinburgh and Kuala Lumpur.
In 2017, Ormond Group was established as the hospitality company that will own, develop and manage all the hospitality assets.
Ormond Hotels takes its storied name and inspiration from one of the most renowned pieces of modernist literature: James Joyce’s Ulysses. The Ormond Hotel is a landmark and legend, so when the opportunity presented itself we knew we had to restore it to its former glory. And that’s just the first step; we’ll also be taking the Ormond story around the globe, establishing a new luxury hotel experience that befits its heritage. By taking the best of Ormond’s history and stature, and combining it with completely new ideas and experiences, we’ve created a boutique hotel brand that marries tradition with modernity, offering meaningful, authentic experiences in cities and vibrant cultural centres around the world.
